Kids' Backpacks

Throughout the year Wistaria raises funds to support charitable projects. Some of these proceeds fund the donation of backpacks filled with student supplies to Turlock Unified School District (TUSD). TUSD then determines which of their students are in greatest need to receive the backpacks and distribute them accordingly.

Annually, Wistaria hosts a drive-thru drop off of school supplies for our community at the TUSD's office. This allows our neighbors to share in Paying Goodness Forward as well as providing us with an opportunity to share contact info with nearby families on how to obtain referrals to receive backpacks.

Not all of our backpack efforts are through the school system. After the 2021 Dixie Fire we delivered backpacks to Plumas Crisis Intervention Center for those children who lost their schools and homes during the wildfires. Additionally, we donated backpacks to Haven Women's Center for those children who were in transitional living situations.

On the horizon, we are investigating a direct connection to provide backpacks to local foster care agencies.
